    McCain Foods (GB) Ltd

WITH almost one third of the world’s French fries produced by McCain Foods, it will come as no surprise that Back-Up is immensely proud to have been involved with the development of staff at the Scarborough plant of this well-known name.

This year saw the completion of an NVQ pilot programme within the Microchip department.

Bespoke assessment documentation and explanatory booklets were designed to be specifically relevant to McCain employees.

Ray Beswick, Training Co-ordinator, says of the program:

"McCain is a multinational company who recognise the need to recruit, train and develop quality committed employees. The introduction of NVQs in our Scarborough French fry plant are providing a number of benefits, these include: linking the new employee induction process to a recognised vocational qualification, increasing individual employee self-esteem, ensuring statutory training requirements are certificated and in general assisting individual departments to work towards achieving agreed business goals."
